Case Description
I recently had a front bridge made larger to include more teeth (had one missing tooth, now the dentist pulled a second tooth.) The bridge spans 5 teeth with two abutments on one side, one on the other. This has several major problems. The bridge does not really fit to the abutments and falls right off (not a tight fit at all, won't even stay without cement for a split second). Another problem, as I see it, is that the metal abutments were not put in to be long enough for the bridge to adhere to, (almost flush with my gums-barely hanging lower) except for the middle abutment, which has come out and stuck to the bridge. The dentist doesn't even put it back in the tooth, he just glues the whole thing back in with the abutment sticking onto the bridge. This has been going on almost daily for a few months now, and now the tooth that the abutment used to be in, is starting to crack (inside my gums). I am going almost daily with no front teeth. It has not worked since day one and I am desperate to get something that will work immediately. Even though I just paid for this bridge that isn't working at all, the dentist wants me to now get a bridge the span of the entire upper to fix it. I'm willing to pay to fix this, but want someone who can really fix this mess or a second opinion to tell me if I should go ahead and give him a chance to screw up the rest of my mouth along with it. Can you please help me?

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

First let me say i''''m sorry to hear about your situation. While your issue is not common, all dentists have experienced treatment that did not go as planned. Since you are obviously at a crossroads it would be important that your next decision have a better chance of long term success. What I would say to you is that you should not start cutting into more teeth without a solid treatment plan that both you and your dentist are comfortable is going to be a good long term solution for you. Keep in mind that a quick fix may be convenient, but it may also lead to bigger issues in the future. You should ask for three or four options from your dentist. There should be a discussion about how each option would affect your immediate situation and your dental health and comfort 15 years from now. This should include a discussion of your entire mouth not just the issue you are having today. Nothing is move annoying to you and I as to have another issue arise just as one is fixed.I''''m sorry I can''''t be more specific about your particular treatment without seeing you in person. I hope you find a treatment plan that makes you feel more confident about your teeth. Please feel free to call us it you hare any questions or would like to be seen for a consultation. Our office manager Cindy will be in tomorrow from 9 to 1.Zac Held DDS

Hello there,I suggest that you seek a second opinion. Not every dentist share the same philosophy on treatment of their patients. Sometimes a 2nd or even 3rd opinion doesnt hurt. The main thing is that you find a treatment plan you can be comfortable with. From what you describe, having a 5-unit bridge with 3 abutments should work, as long as the abutments are on #6, #9, & #10, and only if those are stable abutments. If the bridge doesnt fit well, something is not right, and you shouldnt have to live with it.Common options for your case:1. REDO the brigde(hopefully without having to expand to other teeth)2. CROWNS on abutments with Implants in place of missing teeth3. Removalble Partial denture/stayplateThere are many dentists out there that will give a consultation at no cost to you. I suggest starting there first.Hope this helps. Good luck.

Not sure what to say , as the other Dentists listed here haven''''t. Bottom line, it''''s not working, and you need front teeth. I would be a little hesitant about just adding more teeth to this bridge if you haven''''t been happy so far. Second opinions are a great idea. I highly recommend that. There is really no way to know how to fix this with online facts only. Just note, everything is fixable. Good luck, let me know if I can be any help.
