How is a tooth re-sealed after a root canal is performed on a tooth that already has a crown? Is the crown removed and then replaced, or just drilled through and re-sealed or filled? thanks.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

It will be drilled and re-sealed, and filled. This procedure is generally performed by Endodontist.

You have 2 choices:#1: Drill though the crown, do the root canal, and seal the hole with a filling. This is usually adequate.#2: Drill though the crown, do the root canal, replace the crown. Depending on how badly broken down the tooth is, sometimes this is necessary, although, this is also the "ideal" way to go.The root canal doesn''''t need to be done by an endodontist. A properly trained general dentist can do just as good as job and will be a lot cheaper.

Hello,Typically access to the canals are performed through an opening on the chewing surface of the crown. Sometimes the process of accessing can render a crown unrepairable, but this is rare. A temporary filling is placed immediately after the Root Canal Procedure, and at a later date a permanent filling is placed following insertion of a post if necessary.Best Regards,Dr Trent
